Teach credit before the first credit card offer arrives! In these credit score activities, high school students learn what a credit score is, the 300 to 850 FICO Score range and the five factors, how credit reports work, and how credit card interest adds up. They read a realistic credit report and credit card statement, diagnose six people's credit, discover how long a $1,000 balance takes to pay off with minimum payments, sort credit myths from facts and play a Credit Score Life Game.

What's included

  • Teacher guide with 5-day pacing and differentiation (support, on level, challenge)
  • Standards and contents page
  • 3 pages of guided notes with fill-in blanks: Credit Scores (FICO ranges and the five factors 35/30/15/10/10), Credit Reports (free official reports, inquiries, disputes, freezes), Cards & Interest (credit vs debit, APR, grace period, minimum payments)
  • Sample credit report (drawn document) with 9 questions, including a suspicious account to investigate
  • Score-factor case studies: 6 people to diagnose
  • Credit card statement (drawn document) with interest calculation and minimum payment warning, plus 10 questions
  • The Minimum-Payment Trap: students build a month-by-month table for a $1,000 balance at 24% APR, with clearly stated assumptions
  • Pay More, Save More: compare 4 payoff plans with a graph
  • Myth vs Fact sort (16 cards) + recording sheet
  • Credit Score Life Game: rules, score tracker and 16 scenario cards
