Life skills activities for special education and transition
Functional skills stick when students practice on documents they will meet in the community: a restaurant menu, a grocery flyer, a bus timetable, a calendar, a care label, a work order. Most of these resources are levelled, so one lesson can reach students working at different levels, and many include data sheets for IEP goals.
Use them for life skills and transition programs, resource rooms, FACS and community-based instruction. Vocational task boxes and errand challenges give students the repeated, hands-on practice that independence is built on.
